CB’s Ginger shot

CB’s Ginger Shot

Health and Wellness on the cheap

A game changer

I’ve wanted to share this recipe with you since I first saw it on Instagram. A chef in Costa Rica that I follow and speaks no english, @donmojito, made this awhile back for health and wellness. A lover of ginger and its health benefits, I had to try. Throwing in the CB twist, of course, which is nothing special but adding vanilla. I’m well passed a 2oz shot per day for the last 30 days and I feel so good I want you, my reader, to try. The improvements have been remarkable.

I’ve been absent from blogging for a few weeks. I missed you. Things have been really challenging, a lot of sickness and death. It can get overwhelming. “The idle mind is the devils’s playground” is a saying I remember from childhood, so, I try to keep busy. As a result, certain things have fallen short. This blog being one of them. Apologies. February is Black History Month, which I wrote about last year. The necessity of Black History month. I’m excited to share some discoveries I’ve made lately, so, hopefully I’m back on the horse.

Simple, easy, economical

When I last wrote about ginger on the food blog, The Ginger Caramels, health and wellness weren’t the emphasis. I’ve long suffered from stomach issues and ginger has always been a leading natural nausea and pain reliever. It boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure and cleans out the lymphatic system. why you should be taking a ginger shot a day. I was able to make 8, 2oz shots for under $2.00US. Can’t beat that with a stick.

Brian Ann Zoccola Letofsky (7/2/47- 1/28/22)

Her loss is profound for me as it felt like losing my Mom, again. I only knew her 10 years, but she was everything that is good in humans. Supportive, hilarious and kind, she is in the comment section of 90% of this website. Like both of my parents, my wish was for her to be relieved of the prison that her body had become. I will always remember the times spent with her, first at work, then later at various events laughing until tears came to both our eyes. Her smile will stay with me all my days. Thank you so much, Brian Ann, for sharing your wonderful life with me. Be free.

CB, Glad you’re back in action with a brand new (and very cool) blog. Mom used to give me ginger ale when my stomach was wonky. It helped. And I always enjoy it as a post sushi palate cleanser. I’ve been looking for the perfect non-toxic “wake up call” for ages. Now, I can’t wait to try this. It’s just what I need. As for being an acquired taste, most of the seemingly random recipes I’ve come to love are exactly that. Asparagus, anyone? I think we’ve all experienced a stretch of sadness, especially the passing of our dear friend, Brian Ann. She made it her mission to bring smiles to all our faces. I think she’d enjoy us carrying on her legacy—one smile at a time.
