This week’s Everyday People
Place of Birth: Hayward California
What kind of Kid were you?
Uh, Hyper, ADD (laughs)
Really? Did you get in trouble?
Sometimes…I was good in fits and starts, I had good and bad years, 5th grade was like, reeeally trying (laughs)..for my family and my school.
Really? I would have never pictured you like that! Just too much energy, huh?
(laughs) Ok Will, if you were to win 1 million dollars in the lottery tomorrow, what would you do with it?
Ummm, I would pay off any remaining debt that I have…uh, I would, probably meet with an accountant just to make sure I’m taking all the right steps, and then, reach out to anyone in my family and see what I could do for them and have a discussion about the best way to move forward.
Good for you, sounds very responsible. A long way from 5th grade! Ok, what’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for you?
(long pause) (big sigh) ooh, maybe…that’s, that’s a hard one, it’s, yeah I’m trying to think…ummm, I mean, probably just, uh, I mean, like my Mom and Dad, probably just collectively all the things they’ve done for me throughout my life..yeah
That’s a good one,Ok, who’s the funniest person you’ve ever known?
Pass? Ok, who’s the funniest person you’ve ever seen?
(pause)The funniest per….
Do you have, like a favorite comedian?..or funny Actor?
Umm..let’s say, I went to a comedy show one time, in San Francisco, uh, where they were just trash talking the whole audience, including me and my brother, um, and their names were Kaseem Bentley and Jacob Sirof, that was, like probably one of the funniest stand up shows I’ve been to.
No Kidding! They took you guys apart huh, in a funny way?
Yeah, I was laughing the whole time even if my face was like, getting red with nervousness (laughs)
(laughs) That’s so funny! Did they, like just pick on you guys or..?
They have like this whole routine set up, but before they even got to that, they like, made sure, it was a small audience, they made sure they got to like every single person and like picked one detail about them and then just like trashed them, and then after that they said “Ok, we think we’re ready to do our material now!”..It was pretty funny.
That’s awesome! I’ve never been to a stand up show like that, that’s for sure. OK, so you can go anywhere in the world tomorrow. Where is that place and why?
Um, well, I’d like to go to Hawaii, cause I’ve never been there. But, in terms of places I’ve been, there’s this really lovely place in Northern California, in like Sonoma County called Guerneville, which, I stayed there for 3 weeks while I was shooting a film one time and I kind of , like fell in love with it. It’s like a quaint little small rural area, but the culture there, is that of like a metropolitan area and very like, multi-cultural and, just kind of like a hippie vibes going on, there’s a lot of local artists, and I feel like I could find a tribe there.
That sounds cool, northern California is so nice, it really is. Ok Will, you’re going to live the rest of your life on a deserted island. You can only take one of each. Which?
Candy Bar?Probably Snickers..It’s filling tho! It’s like a meal replacement
Haha..Type of Food?Uhhh, probably Buffalo Wings?
Buffalo Wings? Is that your favorite? It’s one of em, or like my special, the recipe that I have for making oatmeal
It’s a special recipe?Well I just like add a bunch of stuff to it and I make it every morning (chuckles)
I may have to get this recipe! It’s an acquired taste
Ok, which Album, CD or Artist?Mmmm, that’s a good question. Um, if you were asking me when I was younger, the 2 albums I listened to most in college were Wish You were Here by Pink Floyd and Only Built for Cuban Linx by Reakwon, but there’s another..what’s his name? It was, uh, Toro y Moi, which is a really great, like chill wave artist from the Bay area, but I don’t know if I could pick just one album cause he’s always, like, he’s one of the most prolific guys out there, he’s always releasing new music
Cool. Which Movie?Uh That…that’s always changing, if I was like a kid I would probably say, like Fantasia, or Independence Day. Bride of Frankenstein that I said on the podcast I would say that’s a wildcard for maybe like, the most important movie, but in terms of like, I would say Parasite is a movie that I’m really into right now
Me too! (long convo about Parasite) And 2 of my other favorite movies, The Third Man and Mulholland Drive, I watched those movies all the time in high school.
Which Book?Um, I would say The Good Earth, that was like the 1st book I read in high school that made me feel like reading could be cool.
Nice, I like that. Ok, you can take 2 people with you. One for conversation purposes, living or dead, just for conversation. Who?
Living or dead?Yes.Um…(mumbles) ummmm..Pass
Ok, no problem. For Romantic purposes, anybody in mind?
Uh, well, I’m single right now.. I’ll get back to you when I have a better answer!
Ok Will, no worries. Final question. What would you like for other people to say about you?
Uh, that I try. That I try, I, I don’t always measure up to the person I want to be, but, I at least try
I like that! Will, thanks so much I really appreciate it!
